Security & Compliance

Organizational Security

Information Security Program
Outset has an Information Security Program in place that is communicated throughout the organization. Our Information Security Program follows the criteria set forth by the SOC 2 Framework. SOC 2 is a widely known information security auditing procedure created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Third-Party Audits
Outset undergoes independent third-party assessments to test our security and compliance controls.
Third-Party Audits
Outset is a native Salesforce application. Salesforce regularly scans for vulnerabilities and conducts penetration tests across our Salesforce environments. Customers can download copies of the application vulnerability assessments for Salesforce platforms from the compliance page of our trust.salesforce.com website.
Roles and Responsibilities
Roles and responsibilities related to our Information Security Program and protecting our customer’s data are well defined and documented. Our team members must review and accept all of the security policies.

Security Awareness Training
Our team members must undergo employee security awareness training, which covers industry-standard practices and information security topics such as phishing and password management.

Confidentiality
All team members must sign and adhere to an industry-standard confidentiality agreement before their first day of work.

Background Checks
We perform background checks on all new team members in accordance with local laws.

Cloud Security

Cloud Infrastructure Security
All of our services are hosted with Salesforce. Salesforce employs a robust security program with multiple certifications, including ISO and SOC. For more information on our provider’s security processes, please visit https://compliance.salesforce.com

Data Hosting Security
All customer data is hosted on Salesforce databases located in the United States. Please refer to the Salesforce documentation linked above for more information.

Encryption at Rest
Salesforce Platform Encryption is designed to allow you to retain critical app functionality — like search, workflow, and validation rules — so you maintain full control over encryption keys and can set encrypted data permissions to protect sensitive data from unauthorized users. Platform Encryption allows you to natively encrypt your most sensitive data at rest across all your Salesforce apps. Outset also employs encryption at rest for all non-Salesforce systems.

Encryption in Transit
Our applications encrypt in transit with TLS/SSL only.

Vulnerability Scanning
Outset is a native Salesforce application. Salesforce regularly scans for vulnerabilities and conducts vulnerability scanning across our Salesforce environments. Customers can download copies of the application vulnerability assessments for Salesforce platforms from the compliance page of our trust.salesforce.com website.

Logging and Monitoring
Outset is a native Salesforce application. Salesforce actively monitors and logs its services.

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
We use our Salesforce backup services to reduce any risk of data loss in the event of a hardware failure. We utilize Salesforce monitoring services to alert the team if any failures affect users. Customers can access this information at https://trust.salesforce.com/.

Incident Response
We have a process for handling information security events, including escalation procedures, rapid mitigation, and communication.

Access Security

Permissions and Authentication
Access to cloud infrastructure and other sensitive tools is limited to authorized employees who require it for their roles. Where available, we have Single Sign-on (SSO), two-factor authentication (2FA), and strong password policies to ensure the protection of access to cloud services.

Least Privilege Control
We follow the principle of least privilege with respect to identity and access management.

Quarterly Access Reviews
We perform quarterly access reviews of all team members with access to sensitive systems.

Password Requirements
All team members must adhere to a minimum set of password requirements and complexity for access.

Vendor & Risk Management

Annual Risk Assessments
We undergo at least annual risk assessments to identify potential threats, including considerations for fraud.

Vendor Risk Management
Vendor risk is determined, and the appropriate vendor reviews are performed before authorizing a new vendor.
